In 2013 Ben Sherman proudly celebrated fifty years of British style culture. As a global lifestyle brand, it now presents a full lifestyle offering of contemporary menswear, with retail stores in key cities around the world.
The brand’s foundation is in shirt-making and the Ben Sherman shirt is an icon, adopted by youth culture and style movements from the Mods of the 1960’s via Ska, Two-Tone and Brit Pop, to today’s current brands and style leaders.
The DNA of Ben Sherman has been explored for the latest SS’14 Collection in identifying four distinct trends that evolve throughout the season.
These four trends blend together signature styles, fabrics and prints. The four trends consist of ‘Heritage DNA'; ‘British Outdoors'; British Sartorial’ and ‘British Casuals’.
The key ingredients of Ben Sherman, such as the box-back pleats on shirts, back collar buttons and locker-loops all make up the DNA of the brand.
The colour palette for this season begins with vivid orange and brick red contrasted by a cadet blue and neutral feather grey.
As the season develops, we see a British ochre mustard yellow move through the trends.
Victorian green and a deep caviar shade take us into the season where we see oxblood, port and monochrome to finish the collection.
This season’s collection focuses on ‘The Original Button Up Since 1963′.
This describes the heritage and authenticity of the Ben Sherman brand and its values of care, details and pride in one’s appearance.
