Uwe Koetter’s Crown Jewels

Uwe Koetter's pendant

This year, Uwe Koetter was one of the seven jewellers chosen in South Africa to create the Crown Jewel range for the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden’s Centenary Year’s monumental grand finale.

The concept was based on the enchanting premise that every kingdom should have its own crown jewels and the jeweller’s multiple award-winning designer Johan Louw created a historical masterpiece that will never be reproduced again. Johan Louw says that the crown jewel platinum pendant is designed in the Art Nouveau style, which depicts the little resident of Kirstenbosch the Sugarbird, perched elegantly on the local Pincushion Protea. He further explains that he was inspired by the flora and fauna of the majestic Kirstenbosch Gardens. The Sugarbird enameled to provide colour strikes you with its radiant beauty and the Pincushion Protea is boldly set with pave diamonds.
